Public Health Awards Ceremony and Reception
APHA will honor those who exemplify professionalism and dedication to the field of public health on Monday, Oct. 28 from 12:30-2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased during the registration process or can be added by logging back in to your registration record.
APHA TV
APHA TV airs a wide range of public health discussions from the Annual Meeting. Hear from professionals, advocates and leaders, each giving their unique perspective and message.
Coffee Talks
Join APHA Member Sections and Affiliates for informal conversations during the meeting.
Emerging Scholars Theater
The Emerging Scholars Theater is an opportunity for students to showcase their research in an oral presentation format to hone their research communication skills. Sessions will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27 and Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. each day. Sessions will be held on the public health expo floor. Sessions will be 45 minutes to include Q&A.
Learning Institutes
Earn additional CE credits by attending Learning Institutes. These half-, full- and two-day courses focus on professional development and build on knowledge and skills.
Public Health Film Festival
Watch feature-length films that demonstrate, educate, inspire and encourage a change for a healthier future.
Women's Leadership Institute
The program is being developed for APHA’s second Women’s Leadership Institute. Being held on the Saturday before the Annual Meeting, this event will highlight how women can support other women and create a sense of belonging in the field of public health. A separate registration fee is included.
Say Hey Lounge
Connect with peers and colleagues throughout the Annual Meeting and Expo at the Say Hey Lounge. Use the lounge as a place to sit and speak with a new associate, and join us for scheduled gatherings of groups such as Early-Career Professionals and Community Health Workers.
The Annual Meeting is full of opportunities for students and early-career professionals. Make the most of your experience by preparing for the meeting in advance.
Career Opportunities and Networking
- Prepare your business cards and resumes ahead of time to share with prospective employers and career coaches.
- Check out career opportunities at the Public Health CareerMart and meet exhibitors from your favorite organizations in the Public Health Expo.
- Set a goal to meet at least five new people every day, exchange information and then follow up after the meeting.
Students
- All student members are part of APHA's Student Assembly — the nation's largest student-led organization dedicated to furthering the development of public health students. If you're not a member, join to build your network, save on the meeting's registration fees and more.
- APHA's Student Assembly hosts a number of sessions and events during the Annual Meeting. These events are a great way to meet other students and APHA leaders. Don't forget to add Student Assembly sessions and events to your schedule.
- For a reduced rate, student members of APHA are invited to attend the APHA Awards Ceremony and Luncheon as well as a kick-off reception with the award winners, their guests and APHA’s past presidents.
