American Sign Language and CART
Arrangements for interpreters and CART require advanced planning for a conference as large as APHA. We can best meet your needs by receiving requests in advance. Complete this intent form by Aug. 30 to request ASL interpretation and/or CART. A final schedule of the sessions you plan to attend is due Sept. 20 and can be emailed to access@apha.org. APHA makes every effort to accommodate requests received after deadlines but sometimes interpreters are unavailable unless booked well in advance of our conference. Onsite requests for interpreters can be made at the Accessibility Booth but are not guaranteed.
All General Sessions and Champion Conversations will be live-captioned. General Sessions will also include a sign language interpreter. All virtual events will include captions. Session and events with ASL Interpreters or CART will be marked in the online program.
Amplification Devices
A limited number of amplification devices will be available. These compact devices amplify the sound in the room and can be carried from one room to another. For best results you may want to sit near the front of the room to better hear the presentations. To reserve an amplification device ahead of time, contact access@apha.org. Onsite, arrangements can be made by visiting the Accessibility Desk.
