APHA Ways to Give l APHA 1872 Society
Founded in 2024, the APHA 1872 Society is the American Public Health Association’s inaugural giving society. The name honors the year 1872, when Dr. Stephen Smith and other prominent public health pioneers established the Association.
The 1872 Society celebrates APHA’s rich history while championing a healthier, more equitable future. Through unrestricted contributions to the APHA General Fund, the society is committed to advancing public health for all and stands for science, for action and for health.
The APHA 1872 Society contributions drive tangible impact across three core areas:
Advancing health equity: Dismantling barriers to health and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to attain their highest level of health, regardless of background or life circumstances.
Advocating for policy change: Raising our collective voice to influence policies being considered by Congress, the executive branch and the federal courts that prioritize the public’s health and promote resilience within our communities and supports our efforts to make public health a higher national priority.
Promoting the value of public health: Enhancing communication and cutting through misinformation with facts and evidence.
Join the APHA 1872 Society today and be a foundational part of our journey. Together, we’ll continue making strides toward a world where health equity, progressive policy and scientific advancement define our public health landscape.
