The American Public Health Association’s Center for Climate, Health and Equity will be traveling to New York City to participate in Climate Week 2024. Climate Week is observed in late September, with this year’s event taking place from Sept. 22-29. This is the first year that Climate Week will include a focus on the health impacts of climate change. The Center for Climate, Health and Equity recognizes that this is a significant way to connect with climate champions not only nationally, but internationally to discourse and to collaborate on how to fill in the gaps at the intersection of climate and health equity.
While there are many activities taking place during Climate Week, the Center for Climate, Health and Equity will be co-hosting multiple events with ecoAmerica’s Climate for Health program. These events have virtual attendance options, but if you and your colleagues are in New York City, you are invited to attend in person and share amongst your networks.
Traveling to represent APHA at Climate Week builds upon what has been a year full of advocacy, crafting lasting partnerships and most importantly, spreading the word about ways climate change affects public health. The Center has been hosting webinars, its first Climate Summit, and a Congressional briefing on extreme heat—and will continue these efforts and more into 2025 and beyond. The Center staff look forward to amplifying climate action through a public health lens during Climate Week.
