Injury and Violence Prevention

APHA works with partners such as the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control to bring national attention to the burden of injury and violence and employs a public health approach for its prevention and control. We recognize policy strategies are key in addressing injury and violence prevention at a population-based level as well.

These activities are a part of the Center for Public Health Practice and Professional Development's work, which brings together several programs to educate, inform and communicate with the public health workforce.

RFP: Data Science Demonstration Project 2024 Grant Announcement

APHA is seeking proposals for the Data Science Demonstration Project from Jan. 5-Feb. 5, 2024. For this iteration of the program, we are seeking responses from organizations with existing data science projects looking to expand their efforts. This may include projects to improve the timeliness of health information, responding to public health threats in a more efficient manner, increasing the effectiveness of prevention programs/campaignsor other topics.

To elevate the utility of data science in advancing public health practice, the CDC National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, in partnership with APHA, has developed the Injury and Violence Prevention Data Science Demonstration Project. The overarching aim of this initiative is to enhance public health capacity and provide support to organizations engaged in data science work.
