Step it up! Let's walk the public health walk

People walking past Mix N Mingle LoungeIf you’re looking for a great way to walk the public health walk while at the APHA Annual Meeting and Expo, join the APHA 2017 Steps Challenge. Hey, you’re already logging thousands of steps just dashing from one session to another. Now, make it official.

This is the third year we’ve held a steps challenge during the meeting. The goal is 5 million steps. Can you help us get there?

We have two challenge groups — one for walkers and one for runners. (BTW, we see you runners hitting the sidewalks in the early morning hours here in Atlanta.) At the end of the meeting, prizes will go to winners randomly selected from the top 10 in each of those two groups.

The details:

  • The steps challenge is accessible for all attendees.
  • Pick either the walkers or runners group. (You can’t join both.)
  • You must be registered for APHA 2017.
  • The challenge starts today and runs until Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 5 p.m. ET.
  • You can either sync a steps-counting device or log your steps manually.
  • Winners will be announced on Tuesday.

Find more information in the APHA 2017 Mobile App (select the “More” button, then “Wellness Center,” then “APHA 2017 Steps Challenge”). Or just log in at https://apha.stridekick.com/. Happy stepping!
