Review guide helps professionals prepare for national certification

Washington D.C., January 9, 2019 – Now, more than ever, public health professionals are called upon to meet the increasing health challenges facing communities across the country. The National Board of Public Health Examiners administers a voluntary certification exam to ensure that public health students and graduates have mastered the knowledge and skills relevant to this evolving field.

The Certified in Public Health exam helps pave the way for professional achievement in the field. Those who hold a CPH certification are well-poised to address the inter-disciplinary, dynamic and changing world of public health. Now, APHA Press is proud to announce the release of its Certified in Public Health Exam Review Guide to help study for the exam, which is newly revamped this year.

This review guide addresses the public health foundational competencies, principles and tasks reflected in the updated CPH exam. Each chapter provides a review of critical content, references, case studies and a method to test practical knowledge. Answers to practice questions at the end of each chapter help readers obtain a fuller understanding of the content presented. For those preparing to take the CPH exam, this is an invaluable tool.

Contributors to the review guide include nearly 20 faculty members from the University of South Florida’s College of Public Health who hold CPH designations. Karen D. Liller, PhD, EdS, MA, CPH, and Jaime A. Corvin, PhD, MSPH, CPH, developed and co-edited the guide with editorial management by Hari H. Venkatachalam, MPH, CPH. Content draws on lessons taught in the master’s-level classroom to create a user-friendly resource that covers the topics most relevant to public health professionals.

ISBN: 978-0-8753-297-4, softcover, 366 pages, list price: $59.95, plus shipping and handling (APHA member price: $41.95). To order, call toll-free 888-320-APHA; email apha@pbd.com; or visit www.aphabookstore.org. Requests for a review copy should be sent by email to David Hartogs.
