Who We Are

Student Assembly members smiling with arms around each other

Vision: A network of students for a healthy global society

Brief history: Founded in 1996 as the Public Health Student Caucus and later renamed the Student Assembly in 2005, the APHA membership group was established to enhance students’ educational experiences and professional development within APHA. Today, the Student Assembly is the nation’s largest student-led organization dedicated to serving students of public health and other related health disciplines.

Objectives: The Student Assembly is dedicated to furthering the development of the next generation of professionals in public health and health-related disciplines. We represent and serve students of public health and other health-related disciplines by connecting those who are interested in working together on public health and student-related issues.

Organization: The Student Assembly has its own Executive Board, which consists of our elected officers: chair, chair-elect, immediate past chair, secretary, secretary-elect, treasurer and treasurer-elect. Each position is a one-year term.

Within the Student Assembly are eight standing committees and seven subcommittees, which are divided based on common objectives into six workgroups. These workgroups focus on varying aspects that further our mission.
