The Health Informatics Information Technology Section improves the public's health and promotes prevention and early intervention by advancing the use of innovative and effective information technology and informatics applications.
Formed in 2007 as a Special Primary Interest Group, the Health Informatics Information Technology Section was established in 2009.
Our Work
We are the global center for innovative and consumer-centric technologies, analytic methods and information technology applications in public health.
Since 2009, the Health Informatics Information Technology Section has collaborated with the University of Illinois-Chicago as a co-sponsor of the Online Journal of Public Health Informatics. We encourage members to submit manuscripts to the Journal. Please contact Editor-in-Chief Edward Mensah, PhD, or Diane L. Adams, MD, MPH, DABCHS, CHS-III. The Online Journal of Public Health Informatics is now affiliated with the JMIR Publication Advancing Digital Health and Open Science. The inaugural issue of the Online Journal of Public Health Informatics, under the JMIR Publications platform, will feature articles on precision public health, a technology-enhanced, data-driven targeted approach to public health practice and research.
