Statement from APHA Executive Director Georges C. Benjamin, MD
“High powered weaponry has no place in our society. No individual should have access to these weapons, which are too often used to carry out premeditated acts of violence.
APHA offers our condolences to the families of the victims and is grateful most of the attendees are safe, including former President Donald Trump. This latest example of deadly violence should renew bipartisan efforts to reduce gun violence in our communities and keep these deadly weapons out of the wrong hands.
We encourage everyone to join us in urging Congress to take action to protect all us from gun violence.”
