It’s still open enrollment time in the Affordable Care Act marketplace, but not for too much longer. If you or someone you know needs health coverage, sign up today.
ACA open enrollment ends Dec. 15 for people buying coverage through the federal marketplace. Washington, D.C., and ten states — California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Washington — have longer enrollment periods. Most people who sign up for ACA coverage qualify for financial assistance to help defray the cost of monthly premiums.
Since 2013, the ACA has provided 20 million Americans with health coverage and access to care, serving as a critical lifeline in the last year as COVID-19 surges and U.S. job losses mount.
“The Affordable Care Act not only offers more people access to quality, affordable medical and preventive care, it also makes the nation stronger and healthier in the face of a pandemic,” said Georges C. Benjamin, MD, executive director of the American Public Health Association. “Get covered today and help spread the word in your communities.”
Information about health plans and how to enroll is available at healthcare.gov. In-person or virtual assistance can be found at localhelp.healthcare.gov or by phone at (800) 318-2596. For more resources and tips on 2021 enrollment, visit Families USA.
