APHA is requiring all in-person attendees to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccination against the SARS-Cov-2 virus as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. Up to date is defined as a completed full primary series (two shots of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccine or one shot of the Johnson and Johnson product; or a comparably approved vaccine if you are an international attendee) plus at least one booster.  We remind you that it can take up to six weeks to complete the full schedule for COVID vaccines that require two doses to achieve full efficacy. You will be required to show proof of vaccination during event check-in. By registering for the event, you agree to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus by June 14. Guests who are unable to show proof of vaccination will not be allowed to enter the event.

Letter from APHA's Executive Director

Date: March 24, 2022

Re: Policy Action Institute Safety Guidelines

APHA takes our leadership role in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously and understands the need to provide attendees of our Policy Action Institute with the safest experience possible. We are following all current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines as well as those of state and local authorities in Washington, D.C., during the meeting period. We recognize these may change over time as conditions change in the district or elsewhere.

APHA requires all in-person attendees to be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccination against the SARS-Cov-2 virus as defined by the CDC. Up to date is defined as a completed full primary series (two shots of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID vaccine, or one shot of the Johnson & Johnson product; or a comparably approved vaccine if you are an international attendee) plus at least one booster. We remind you that it can take up to six weeks to complete the full schedule for COVID vaccines that require two doses to achieve full efficacy. You will be required to show proof of vaccination during event check-in. By registering, you agree to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus by June 14. Guests who are unable to show proof of vaccination will not be allowed to enter the event.

Washington, D.C., allows fully vaccinated people to go maskless in both indoor and outdoor public settings.  Masks are optional for fully vaccinated people at the Policy Action Institute. We acknowledge some fully vaccinated people may still choose to wear masks. It is the Association’s expectation that people will respect the right of individuals to choose to wear a mask or not wear one in ways that are consistent with the science as we know it today. No one should use mask wearing as a sign of one’s vaccination status or political leanings.

We are planning to provide a degree of physical distancing in meeting rooms, along with hand sanitizer throughout the meeting venue. We will continue to monitor federal, state and local guidelines and adjust our policies as needed to ensure a safe and comfortable meeting for all attendees.

For registrants who are not comfortable traveling or are not able to travel, the 2022 Policy Action Institute will stream live. No matter how you participate, you will have access to high quality research and learning opportunities.

Sincerely,

Georges C. Benjamin, MD
Executive Director
