The Health Administration Section promotes the public’s health by advancing the quality and practice of health administration.
Established in 1908 as the Municipal Health Officers Section, we were renamed the Public Health Officers Section in 1912, and we became the Health Administration Section in 1916.

Our members represent payers, nonprofits, research and policy institutes, health systems, hospitals, consultants, academia, med tech and others.
Our Work
We represent the interests of health administrators within APHA and we offer an opportunity for professionals to organize and pursue common goals and interests. Our Section is dedicated to enhancing administrators' professional development by providing information, resources and opportunities through communication, advocacy and networking. Our activities include:
- Increasing HAS representation in APHA.
- Developing and disseminating educational and professional development resources.
- Providing and sustaining vehicles for communication.
- Identifying, prioritizing and advocating for public and health-related policy issues.
- Facilitating networking among professionals.
