Committees
Communications Committee
Members of the Communications Working Group focus on providing news and information to the full membership of the Integrative, Complementary and Traditional Health Practices Section through APHA Connect and email blasts. Our communications include information on APHA Annual Meeting planning, news about Section members, information on upcoming conferences and events, notes from Section leadership meetings and advocacy alerts from APHA.
Membership Committee
Our Membership Working Group seeks to recruit new Section members and retain current members, with goals of enhancing members’ experiences and promoting professional development among students and new professionals. The working group reaches out to colleagues at professional meetings and conferences to provide informational materials about joining APHA and getting involved in the Section.
Financial Committee
The Section’s Financial Working Group is responsible for Section budgetary concerns. The group works with the Section chair to determine budget allocations and plan fundraising activities, reviews and coordinates expenses related to the Annual Meeting, and provides resources for Section awards and recognition.
Education and Practice Committee
The education and practice committee brings together three of our Section’s most visible activities – coordinating the Wellness Center at the APHA Annual Meeting; creating and sponsoring wellness webinars (“well-inars”) that are broadcast by APHA to the entire membership; and promoting events and activities during APHA’s National Public Health Week.
Student Committee
Students are a vital and valuable part of our membership! We offer awards for three student posters at the APHA Annual Meeting and encourage student participation in our conference calls and other initiatives. The working group specializes in interacting with student members and representing their interests and concerns. In addition, the Section has successfully sponsored a Mentorship Program that pairs students or new professionals with seasoned counterparts in our Section.
