Preventing Chemical Exposure

man spraying crops with pesticideWe are exposed to thousands of chemicals every day through food, drinking water, air pollution and consumer products. Communities often are unaware of the threat of chemical exposures, and the potential health effects may be unclear.

APHA is committed to supporting initiatives that enhance tracking or surveillance of exposure-related health effects. We're also working to increase scientific knowledge, improve public understanding and reduce further exposures.

With support from the National Center for Environmental Health and the Agency for Toxic Substances Disease Registry, APHA has developed materials that highlight current federal programs that protect Americans from harmful chemical exposures.
