Speak Out

Speak for Health An Initiative of the American Public Health Association

The Speak Out campaign is a summer initiative designed to empower you to make your voice heard. APHA’s Speak for Health materials are used for public health advocacy year-round, but the summer months are an especially important time. Take advantage of the summer recess to attend town hall meetings, invite your representatives to your program or local event, and make sure that members of Congress are prioritizing public health issues. Reach out to your congressional leaders to express support for protecting critical funding for public health agencies and the Prevention and Public Health Fund, addressing the health impacts of climate change, and protecting the Affordable Care Act. When we all raise our voices together, our leaders in Congress are more likely to listen!

The Speak for Health campaign gives you the tools you need to talk to your members of Congress about the importance of public health.

Find out how public health funding is faring in your state with our state fact sheets.
