Who We Are

Mission: Originally launched in 1921, APHA’s Maternal and Child Health Section works to develop innovative and creative approaches to addressing the health needs of mothers, children, adolescents and families.

Our members come from diverse backgrounds and include a broad range of professionals, such as nurses, physicians, midwives, social workers, psychologists, researchers, nutritionists, child care workers, doulas and many others who are involved at every level of health care delivery and policy development.

The goals of the Section are to:

  • influence national policy development related to maternal and child health;
  • develop leaders among Section members and student fellows; and
  • keep Section members informed about national legislation, budget issues and policy related to maternal and child health.

Join us as we share, discuss and debate public health planning and policy developments in the field of maternal and child health. We invite you to get involved in Section activities focused on policy development, leadership development and membership engagement. Your participation is vital to our continued success!
