The American Public Health Association is pleased to share that our long-term member and 132nd president, Dr. Virginia Caine, MD, is now the 125th President of the National Medical Association.

Dr. Caine is the Director and Chief Medical Officer of the Marion County Public Health Department and is the Associate Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. She specializes in infectious diseases including HIV, skin and soft tissue infections, sepsis and more. For her new role with NMA, Caine has adopted the theme of “Transforming Population Health: The Promise of Health Equity Across Therapeutic Areas to Improve Quality and Span of Life.” This nicely combines her medical focus and interest in public health.

We congratulate Dr. Caine on her expanded role with NMA and look forward to continuing our strong relationship with her to champion optimal, equitable health and well-being for all.
