Health Educators Leading a Way to a Post COVID-19 World

Leadership in uncertain times is more important now than ever as we face dual pandemics of COVID-19 and systemic and structural racism. In this session, you will hear from two members of the APHA Public Health Education and Health Promotion Section on how they are leading the way to a post-COVID world through their research and practice:

  • Claudia Parvanta, PhD, College of Public Health, University of South Florida, will present on Assessing Public Reactions to COVID-19 media: A "Cool" study.
  • Melvena Wilson, DrPH, MPH, CHES, Tuskegee University-Department of Graduate Public Health, will present on Creating Culturally Competent Material: The Impact of Racism on Adherence.
  • Helena Chapman, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, will present on Bridging Earth and Health Science Communities during the COVID-19 Response: Focus on the One Health Approach.
