Samantha H. Xu, MPH, has been an active member of APHA since 2018. She served as a Campus Liaison at Case Western Reserve University (2018-2019) in Cleveland, OH, a Membership Ambassador (2018-2020), and the Student Assembly Advancement Co-Chair (2018-2019). She was elected Student Assembly Chair-Elect in 2019, serving as member of the Inter-Sectional Council Steering Committee, in addition to other Student Assembly and APHA-wide committees and work groups. She is a member of the Ohio Public Health Association. She is also a member of the Medical Care and Integrative, Complementary and Traditional Health Practices Sections. As Chair of the Student Assembly (2020-2021), she plans to increase student engagement at the affiliate and local level, raise awareness on student activism movements, and collaborate in creating professional development opportunities as students transition to early career professionals.
Xu earned her MPH (2020) and her Bachelor of Arts in Biology (2020) from Case Western Reserve University. Currently, she is a first-year medical student at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Sami wishes to continue to bridge the gap between public health and clinical practice.
