“As an Alliance, we can use this moment in our history to come together and be stronger and advocate both for why public health exists in its role and why we need critical and sustained investment in public health.”
- Lori Tremmel Freeman, Chief Executive Officer, NACCHO

The mission of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) is to improve the health of communities by strengthening and advocating for local health departments – serving around 3000 local health departments. One of the key tenets of NACCHO’S strategies is that they do everything in collaboration. They believe that they are stronger together rather than independently, and they find that having a united voice is always helpful in addressing complex issues in our country.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Lori Tremmel Freeman, Chief Executive Officer, and Geoff Mwaungulu, Jr., Director for Public Health Law and Policy, in December 2021 on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on public health authority. Read more.
