Plans after school: Upon completion of my PhD, I intend to work in academia in the field of Behavioral and Community Health conducting research. It is my intent to design, implement, and evaluate evidenced community-based behavioral change programs, specifically involving motivational factors, e.g., diet, exercise, sleep patterns, treatment initiation, etc.

Personal Statement about APHA-SA: My bachelor’s and master’s degrees are both in psychology. During the first semester of my PhD program, I was interested in finding ways to become involved in the field of public health. Luckily, I met students on UNTHSC campus who were already involved in APHA-SA and they introduced me to the new and exciting opportunities here. I hope that in my role in the Student Assembly I can serve as that connection to bring new students into the organization. APHA provides a great opportunity for service and professional development through student leadership positions, networking, and mentoring. It is great to work for the Student Assembly but also let the Student Assembly work for you! I encourage every student to get involved in the APHA-SA and everything it has to offer.
