Plans after school: Upon completion of my MPH I hope to attain a career in International Health Policy and Development. I also aspire to enter a doctorate program in which I can merge my passion for medical anthropology and population health with Health Policy and Leadership. In the future, I look forward to giving back to the field of public health as a professor or lecturer on the fields in which I have built my career.

Personal Statement about APHA-SA: I began my career as an Undergraduate at the University of Washington already passionate about Global Health. I developed my own major through the Individualized Studies Program and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelors of Science in Global Health, with a focus in population health and health disparities. The fact that leadership and mentorship have always factored very strongly in my life goals coupled with the realization that I wanted a career in which I could make public health changed that positively impacted entire populations lead me to the distance MPH in Public Health Leadership from UNC- Chapel Hill. This same drive lead me to join APHA as a student member in fall 2013, then apply and complete a policy internship with my local affiliation (Idaho Public Health Association). When the opportunity came to accept the position as Co-Chair for the Action Committee it felt like the next logical step as well a chance that I could not pass up. I am excited to become more and more involved in the APHA-Student Assembly.
